Become a Skynet Junior Scholars Leader
As an introduction to the new Skynet Junior Scholars (SJS) Self-paced Leaders Course, Yerkes Observatory will host a workshop designed to get leaders started with the SJS web portal and the Skynet image request system.
The workshop will be on Friday, September 9th, but participants are invited to arrive on Thursday, September 8th for an evening observing and kickoff meeting. On Friday, you will be introduced our new self-paced course alongside experienced SJS leaders and staff, a course which should subsequently be completed on one's own within six weeks of the end of the workshop. Your feedback will help us make improvements to the course before it is released later that month.
Food and lodging are available at George Williams College (just down the hill from the Observatory) through a grant from the National Science Foundation (#1223687) for Thursday and Friday nights. Participants are welcome to leave at 4 pm Friday or stay for observing at historic Yerkes Observatory that evening.
